Fundraising for Advocate Hospice
Why I'm Running
Over the last several years of my life, I've lost 75 pounds. I've lived in Chicago now for a year, and decided that I needed to take on a new fitness challenge in my new home. On October 9th, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families, specifically Advocate Hospice.
In 2021, my grandmother made the decision to enter hospice and spend the remaining days in the comfort of her own home. While home, several nurses and other Hospice workers came by to care for her and make sure she was as comfortable as possible. It takes a special kind of person to work in hospice and work with families saying goodbye to those that mean the most to them. So, I have decided to run and fundraise in honor of my grandmother and the nurses and family that stood by her side to comfort her until the end.
You too can support my journey to running 26.2 miles in honor of your family members, friends, and those you know who work in the nurse community. A very big thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts and pushing me to push my body beyond the limits!
