Why I'm Running
Alongside my friend and coworker, Kathryn Parker, we will be running for our Bone Marrow Transplant Patients. Our patients go through so much during their transplant journey, what better way to celebrate them on our marathon journey. Long hospitalizations, being away from friends and family, side effects of treatment; these are only a few things that they go through, not to mention financial concerns as well. The pain that we will feel during training and during the marathon is nothing compared to what our patient's endure on a daily basis. This is our first marathon, and we plan to dedicate each mile to one of our patient's in their memory.
On October 9th, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
You too can support Advocate Health Care by supporting my efforts to fundraise. Your donation of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help to ensure that over one million people have access to world-class care close to their home.
