The 26.2 Mile "Why"
In 2020, I raised $1,670. Join me in completing my overall 2021 fundraising goal of raising at least $2,620!
I have loved running since fifth grade. Prior to 2020 I had taken nearly three years off due to nagging pain. Before that I participated in two Chicago marathons that were cut short by circumstance. After strong encouragement by Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center primary care physician and Chair of Internal Medicine Dr. Steven Potts, and exceptional treatment by physical therapist Jessica Stroup, I entered 2020 optimistic about finishing my first full marathon. The COVID-19 pandemic was just one more surprise obstacle on my way to that magical 26.2 mile finish line.
On Sunday, October 10th I will be back in the race once again representing Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center as a member of the charity running team Miles for Masonic. The experience running the full in-person race and crossing the official race finish line means the world to me. I have Dr. Potts and Jessica to thank.
As an Advocate Charitable Foundation team member, I have the privilege of working with donors every day to support the incredible programs and services we offer at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. This is different. This is me as a grateful patient giving back out of gratitude for my own care.
All donations made in 2020 have rolled over to my 2021 Marathon fundraising goal of $2,620. Help me say “thank you” and support our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team and Internal Medicine Department by making a donation. I’ll take care of the 26.2 miles for Masonic.
