My First Marathon!!
Why I'm Running
I'm excited to be running my first marathon in 2020! I began my new runner life in fall 2018 when I agreed to do a 5k with some friends. At that time I couldn't even run for 10 minutes without feeling tired and winded. I trained and slowly increased my stamina and was able to run my first 5k in Nov 2019. It was not easy but I was glad I finished it. Since then I've been pushing myself to see how far I could go. My initial goal was to finish a half marathon which I did and it was great. I told everyone I would never wanna do a full marathon but here I am now registered for the 2020 Chicago Marathon. Thanks to all my family and friends who have supported me throughout. Love you guys! I will be running to support all the amazing children that I am lucky to take care of. All the money donated will go to the Child Life department at Advocate Children's Hospital who work to make children's experience in the hospital less traumatizing and more enjoyable.
On October 11th, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising, and ultimately running 26.2 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
Since 2011, the Inspired to Run team has raised more than $1 million for Advocate Health Care programs and services. By joining the charity running team, I am part of a diverse group of people who are supporting cancer research, helping children and adults with Down syndrome, giving back to the nurses and physicians who save lives everyday and much more.
You too can support Advocate Health Care by supporting my efforts to fundraise. Your donation of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help to ensure that over one million people have access to world-class care close to their home.
