Why I'm TEAM ADVOCATE
First of all I’d like to say THANK YOU for visiting my page. On March 25, I will be representing Advocate Health Care as a member of the charity running team at the 2018 Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K! As a member of the charity running team, I will be training, fundraising and ultimately running 5 miles to benefit patients and families in need.
I am super excited because this will be my second year running the shamrock shuffle. Last year I was fortunate enough to raise $350. I specifically chose to donate the money to the Cancer Survivorship Center at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. This center specializes in working with cancer patients. They set up appointments with patients and do wig-fittings for those who are sadly losing their hair. They give bags of makeup and little gifts to try and brighten their mood and spirit in this difficult time. Other things this center does is provide patients with fitness and nutrition classes, group therapy sessions, social work services, and so much more.
I decided to choose the Cancer Survivorship Center again this year. We are so easily lost in our days that we forget how important the little things are to us. Our bad hair days are considered great hair days for people who are losing their own. Our flushed skin looks radiant compared to pale, fatigued and suffering patients. Extra workout classes like yoga could really help with strength, coping and meditation. These are just some little things that a donation could help fund. Hospital bills are so outrageous these days with medicine, tests and treatments that patients don’t have time to do these things for themselves.
You too can support Advocate Health Care by supporting my efforts to fundraise. Your donation of any amount will not only help me achieve my goal, but will help to ensure that over one million people have access to world-class care close to their home. Thank you again!
