I run for Jay
Why I'm Running
Jay was able to light up any room. He never met a stranger and he could hold his own in a deep conversation around any topic. He was known for his quick wit, good looks and intense committment to his sports teams, his family and his friends. He was taken too soon, he had so much more to give, so much more to accomplish.....yet he had such an enormous impact on so many in his 24 years.
Jay supported my passion for running - almost always greeting me at the finish line with a big hug and a proud dimple-filled smile. He ran with me for several races and in recent years he shared he wanted to one day run a marathon with me. Now I run each marathon for him.
After being diagnosed with bone cancer just six short weeks before graduating from the University of Iowa, Jay lost his courageous truly warrior fight on June 25, 2016. Jay's Hope was established to offer hope and strength to other college students battling cancer.
We were able to utilize Jay's Hope funds raised last year to offer grants to two college students battling cancer and to outfit a teen room within an Advocate hospital with one of Jay's favorite video arcade games. Please consider a donation to my persoanl page or Team Jay's Hope to offer support to these young adults facing the battle of their life.
