This Sunday, March 21, 2021, marks World Down Syndrome Day. On this important day of awareness, Advocate Charitable Foundation is launching a $5.5 million fundraising campaign, At the Center of it all, to help patients of the Adult Down Syndrome Center and their families. Thanks to a generous matching gift of $2.75 million, and $1 million in additional donations, we’ve raised $3.75 million towards our goal! Funds will help the Center expand services and programs, participate in more research studies and share its knowledge and expertise with the global Down syndrome community.
Linda and Mike Mussallem are loyal supporters of the Center. Linda’s brother, Bob, and Mike’s brother, George (pictured above), both had Down syndrome. Inspired by their brothers, Linda and Mike are generously matching donations up to $2.75 million through the George and Bob Fund to support our new campaign.
Our patients and their families are at the center of what we do. Speech and language development were a challenge for our patient, Quintin (pictured above with speech pathologist Susan Bertucci). But he and his family found help and support through the Adult Down Syndrome Center. One of the first words he learned was “mom.”
